As an extreme influencer, I can sit back and watch the attempts of the many who reach into the consciousness of their intended buyers to get them into their sales funnel. In fact, the process of communicating why you need to read this article is one example of how the cheese is placed on the trap, how the hook is baited, what lure to use, where the enticement should be shiniest.
If you read this article through to the end, you will instantly become stronger, less fat, have more hair where you want it, less hair where you don't want it, meet your true love, and acquire monetary riches beyond your wildest dreams.
Of course that is not true. But it sounds good, doesn't it? So how can I get you to read the article through to the end? I can have some kind of endorsement from a heavy hitter who will say, "Wow! If you want to _______ (insert obvious whatever it is you are wanting) then you absolutely have to pay attention to _______. This guy is the one who is solely responsible for me getting to where I am today. If you're smart, you'll put down whatever you're doing now and do exactly what he tells you to do." (Signed Really Impressive Super Succesful Person.)
And if there are several such endorsements from the upper-elite, well, gosh, nickle gets you a dime, I'd bet you'd be sucked right in to my sales funnel.
What does any of this have to with ghosts? Or how you can make money from the supernatural?
Well, at one time I used to get paid to tell people their future. Yes, I was officially a clairevoyant psychic. It was an odd way to make a buck. My method was a sincere attempt not to use any clues or tells from my paying customers. I didn't want to be just a good guesser.
I had quite the set up to ensure I wouldn't see the person. Not much I could do about their voice. I did have to hear what they said. Also, I made sure to verify whatever it was I told them about what I was, er, seeing...about whatever it was they'd come to me to find out about.
Some of the stuff that came to me was visual. Some of it was in the form of thoughts. And definitely emotions, feelings, were a big part of what I would "see" during a session.
If the connection wasn't good enough, I'd shut it down, hand over the money, and that'd be that. Part of all this work included people who wanted to fool me, test me, and generally be difficult. As a general rule, I'd hand them their money back.
Why couldn't I know ahead of time what was going to happen in a session? Well, sometimes I would get some "message" about a person who was making an appointment. Sure, that happened sometimes.
But I didn't go around sticking my psychic nose into other people's business unless I had their explicit permission to do so. Honestly, sometimes just living life, being around people, I'd pick up random stuff. But that's another story time.
During this period in my life, I was genuinely convinced that what I was doing was the real thing...and that I just wasn't a good guesser. Or that some of my customers weren't "true believers" who would force fit what I was telling them into some kind of new reality.
But was any of what was happening the real, genuine, clairvoyant thing?
The problem was the stuff I would "see" was stuff I couldn't know. Especially as I got deeper into a reading. I would "see" stuff that was truly private, and only the customer could possibly know.
Here's the thing --- making predictions about the future --- clearly is the departure point from your usual good guessing guesser. The more specific my predictions were, the more startling to the customer when "it" happened.
Often I would get a call from someone telling me, "What you told me would happen did, even though I thought it would never, ever happen. How could it? But it did, and exactly like you told me it would, too!"
Super-great-fantastic, right? But it was harrowing stuff, to do this kind of work. There was a lot of weird bleep that came my way, including some customers who had some really serious problems, like missing persons, unsolved murder cases, cheating spouses...and a few who came through my door who carried some dark and dirty deeds they'd done but managed to keep secret.
And then there were the really strange cases of customers coming along who were being bothered by ---- how do I say this? ---- ghosts, spirits, entities...and so on.
Now, this kind of customer was always a big, fat problem. And I was winging it. Honestly, most of this stuff should be handled with some talented mental health experts and a prescription pad and some decent doses of anti-psychotic meds like Seroquel
Well, some of these special customers had gone the traditional route but it hadn't made a dent. Plus they were still functioning in the real world. Their problems were these bizarre infestations inside their very being with a variety of physical symptoms that were...unpleasant.
I was the last resort for these customers. They'd heard through the grapevine, somehow, that there was this guy who could maybe do something about being possessed. Had they already tried the church route? Most of them, yes, they had. Didn't work.
So they ended up contacting me. And I'd have a go. If what I did worked, then they payed me. No results, no payment, thank you very much.
And that's how you make money from ghosts and the supernatural. But is it real?
