Do You Accept Payment Plans For Your Paintings?

Hey y’all it’s been a while since I wrote about what I’m doing inside my art business. So I thought I would share some payment plan tips.

I was asked this question shortly after the beginning of the year. And thought, “what a great idea!”

I quickly started offering this option to potential buyers in our conversations.?

And now I’m making it known on my website and to my LinkedIn community.

Here is why offering a payment plan is a fabulous way to sell original paintings

Your average customer doesn't have $1000 or more on hand to spend on a painting. Even if you are selling paintings around $300, that price isn’t considered an impulse buy for most

If you are selling your work online, a $1000+ charge on a card makes anyone nervous.

However, if you offer a payment plan option, your client can then make a monthly payment towards a painting that is comfortable for their wallet.

You can set up automatic billing through Stripe or you could send an invoice by email. I recommend Stripe, as you can set it up once and let it do its thing until the painting is paid in full. I’m the only one managing my art business. I don’t have time to write an invoice every month and collect payment. If you can automate this, you should.

This is what I’ve been telling clients. Feel free to use this too.

"Just message me which painting you would like to purchase and the amount you would like to pay each month. (min amount is $50/month)

I will then put the painting on HOLD.

I will send an invoice to your email each month until the painting is paid in full.

This is interest free and an agreement between you and me.

The payments and invoices are made through Stripe.

If you need to cancel payments on a painting please just reach out to me as soon as possible to avoid any charge from Stripe.

I do not offer refunds on any payments made towards a painting. However, I will count your previous payments toward another painting or print of equal or less value."?
