?? Do the Work: A Bold Guide to Mental Health for All Genders ??

It is no secret that I talk a lot about women's wellbeing, equality and mental health, I want to make it clear that I am committed to practicing conscious and balanced parenting and leadership for all genders. While I may talk a lot about women's issues, it's not because I value them more than men. As a mama and stepmama to five wonderful kids, including two incredible stepsons, I have come to understand the unique differences between girls and boys and the similarities of all humans too. For me, it is simple: It's essential to address and support the mental health of all humans, and I am dedicated to that cause. I'm also discovering that gender is still a part of the conversation and will be until equality becomes a true reality. Toxic masculinity and toxic femininity have been on my mind recently because equality isn't possible if these energies are out of whack.

When it comes to mental health, there is still a stigma attached to it, especially among men and women. But guess what? It's okay to not be okay! Taking care of our mental well-being is just as important as taking care of our physical health. So let's talk about doing the work and how to support everyone in talking about their mental health, while combating toxic masculinity and toxic femininity.

?? What is "doing the work," you might ask? ??

Doing the work means taking an honest inventory of who you are and who you want to be. It means being self-aware and acknowledging your feelings, both good and bad. It means taking responsibility for your actions and understanding the impact they have on those around you. Doing the work also means accepting that you are not perfect and that you will make mistakes along the way. It's a process, but it's worth it!

?? Why is it important for everyone to do the work? ??

Society has conditioned us to believe that certain behaviors are inherently "masculine" or "feminine," but that's a bunch of baloney! Toxic masculinity and toxic femininity have harmful effects on everyone. By doing the work, we can break free from these societal constraints and become our true, authentic selves. We can cultivate self-love and empathy, and form deeper connections with those around us.

?? How to support everyone in doing the work? ??

Create a safe space ????

Create a safe and non-judgmental space where everyone can talk openly about their feelings. Let them know that it's okay to be vulnerable and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Lead by example ????

Lead by example by sharing your own struggles with mental health. This can help to break down the stigma around mental health and encourage others to open up.

Encourage self-care ?? ♀???

Encourage everyone to prioritize self-care, whether that means going for a walk, meditating, or talking to a therapist. Let them know that taking care of their mental health is just as important as taking care of their physical health.

Be patient and compassionate ????

Be patient and compassionate with those who are struggling with their mental health. Remember that it takes courage to confront your feelings and that healing is a process.

Celebrate progress ????

Celebrate progress, no matter how small. Let everyone know that they are making positive changes in their lives and that their efforts are appreciated. Together, we can create a culture of acceptance, support, and joy!

So there you have it, folks! Doing the work means taking an honest look at ourselves and acknowledging our feelings. It takes courage, patience, compassion, and heaps of self-forgiveness. By creating a safe and non-judgmental space, leading by example, encouraging self-care, being patient and compassionate, and celebrating progress, we can support everyone in doing the work and taking care of their mental health. Let's do this! ??????
