Do What You Want To Do

Do What You Want To Do

It sounds obvious right? But I can guarantee that more than 80% of the people who read this would have to admit that there is at least one project you are working on right now that you really don’t enjoy and wish you hadn’t made the commitment to do it.

So how do you do it?

How do you put a moratorium on taking on projects that you don’t really want to take on?

Whether it’s because you really don’t have time, or you just don’t want to make money doing THAT!

First you have to get a really vivid hi res image of what you really want for yourself. What does your ultimate practice look like? And I mean right down to your daily routine - very detailed.

I get up at 5 am, and I spend time with the Mighty Goddesses (See the Animal Lover’s Space).

Then by around 6 something I am making coffee (brewed in a French press), checking my blood sugar, catching up on emails and Slack messages etc...

I also write in my journal and today I happen to be writing this very article at this time (6:30 am today). And I am doing more of this because this is what I really want to be spending my time doing.

One way of creating the environment you want is by doing what you want instead of doing what you think you have to do. And if there is something you think you need to do that you don’t want to do, then get someone else to do it. Delegate it. And stop taking those kinds of engagements on.

You will never have the practice (or the life) of your dreams if you don’t start focusing on doing the things that will make up that picture.

So let’s get back to that.

I get up at 5 am.

I spend the first hour or so of every day on my recliner with “The Goddesses.”

6:30 am is my workout.

By 9 am I am officially working on whatever I have scheduled to do for that day.

At around 5 pm I am heading out with The Goddesses.

By 8 pm I am in bed reading (Nook app on my tablet).

As I go through my day I observe what I am doing, especially when it’s not something I enjoy. And then I envision a life without that task or project.

The way to get focused on doing what you love is by getting a really vivid image of what that is. Then you say NO to everything else. It’s actually that simple, but most of us haven’t taken the time to visualize what we really want our lives (in the day to day) to look like, so we aren’t clear on when to say “NO” and the people pleasing part of us is always inclined to say, “yes.”

Do you know what the problem is with being a people pleaser?...

Everybody likes us, but us ??.

So here’s a basic outline of the structure that I laid out and then got to work molding for myself, and a lot of how I did that is by saying, “NO” because every time I say yes, I have to rearrange something below:

Mondays for me are purely content days.

Tuesdays are for accounting clients.

Wednesdays are becoming the same as Monday with some flexibility for things I need to catch up on.

Thursdays are for accounting clients.

Fridays are my webinars, podcast recordings, and discovery calls which used to be for getting new clients, but the focus now is on sending people to the right courses and programs that I offer.

And all day long I am in Notion managing my time - looking at what I WANT to do (not what I have to do).

I am still doing 1:1’s but on a MUCH smaller scale and I am charging a ridiculous fee for them, because my time has gotten THAT valuable for me.

Meanwhile, for the few clients that are willing to pay my rates for 1:1 I am setting up a really slick system in Notion.

Here’s a quick tour and a look at my process for how I am tracking my sessions for these clients ??

Yep put in front of you what you want life to look like and spend some time everyday thinking about visualizing it. You automatically will start creating it!
