"Do what you love in the service of people who love what you do."
"Do what you love in the service of people who love what you do."
I love what I do! Full Stop. But, I've discovered along the way that I've not always been IN LOVE with all my offerings! Unfortunately, I had to learn that the hard way, through struggle and "failed" attempts.
Do you LOVE what you do? Do you LOVE your product or service?
Honest consideration of this simple question could very well be the key to unlocking your business's success potential. It could be the missing link.
Whether you're a solopreneur or CEO of a Fortune 100 company, love is a necessary ingredient in your business. It has the power to permeate the very fabric of a business and create a ripple effect throughout the company and on your customers. It's like that secret ingredient that takes a dish from good to great.
This love should start, as Maria Von Trapp would say, at the very beginning! It should begin with the creation process.
What is your product or service? Was it born from a place of excitement and love? Simply put, if you were your customer, would you LOVE it? I mean the giddy-telling-all-your-friends-about- it kind of LOVE it?!?
If you can't answer that question with an emphatic "YES!!!" then you're likely off the mark. You're probably creating for your clients and customers.
A business built for others will not work!
Take it from me and the mistakes I've made along the way. I've recently discovered that the reason my latest program is not yet soaring is precisely because I created it for what I thought others wanted. It was not something I was in love with.
That was my fatal mistake. If I don't love it, how can I expect anyone else to love it?
I tried to get in the heads of my potential clients to predict what they wanted. The smarter play here would be to invite them to MY party and serve the hell out of them.
Steve Farber, the author of LOVE IS JUST DAMN GOOD BUSINESS, says, "Do what you love in the service of people who love what you do."
Now that's sound advice! Do what you love. Create what you love. If you love it, then your people will love it.
