Do What Horses Like

Do What Horses Like

Do you know what your horse likes?

  • Treats
  • Scratching itchy spots
  • Grazing
  • Resting, doing nothing (even if just for a minute or so)
  • Exploring
  • Learning
  • Feeling right
  • Being with you
  • Feeling safe with you

When you know what your horse likes it is a powerful way to get and keep the connection. I’ve met lots of people who make rules when with their horse?— I never let my horse eat grass, never give treats, never let him rub on me.?They think the horse should just be obedient and do what it’s told and then wonder why the horse doesn’t want to be with them, resists, underperforms, is spooky, and doesn’t try very hard.

Think about it from the horse’s point of view and use these things strategically to improve your connection. “My human gets me!”
