Do we really have Free Will

Are we in control of our destiny, or are we just following what society and circumstances push us to do? This is an old question that has puzzled many smart people, and we don't have a clear answer. But maybe the value is in discussing it.

For example, did I become an engineer because it pays well, or because I really liked it? Did I start reading because I love it, or because I had no access to smartphones during lockdown? Am I writing this because I want to, or because I have free time?

There are more significant questions too. Would Israel exist if the Jews weren't persecuted? Did Nehru become prime minister because he was the best fit, or because he came from a certain background and had the right education for the job? Are all biographies just stories of their times?

In simple terms, do we shape our own future, or does society, politics, money, and culture decide it for us? It's a confusing question, especially for those who are ambitious and believe they can control their destiny.

But if life is like a movie, does that mean our actions don't matter? Is going to work every day less important if we don't have other choices? Is my engineering degree less valuable if I did it just for money?

And if there is a plan for our lives, shouldn't we still try to play our best roles? Even if we can't change the story, shouldn't we aim for the best performance?

As I said at the start, these questions have been asked for a long time, and I don't have the answers. This article is just me thinking about them.
