Do we prepare for Mayday...?

It was difficult to convince myself on which one to believe, when googled about Automation/AI OR the fourth industrial revolution and it's impact. Contents on internet contradict one another. Nevertheless, there are times when we learn from other's mistake because we don't have time to make ours'.
It can easily be envisioned, "a manless fuel-pump where we can swipe our cards and refill our vehicle fuel", Or "a biometric gadget winning money out of our digital wallet when we reach a railway station or an airport with an intent to travel". Now, these are purely my thoughts, at such stage - when AI has just started crawling in only a few areas amongst an ocean of opportunities, thus it’s not hard to imagine its impact when it actually starts running all over, right from our kitchen to our neighbour Mars. Do you remember our real story. “Journey from pager to chat-bots”.
The best way to deal with this "not to get prepared" is for sure not on the list. Rather the easiest way to deal with this is to face it. Also, facing it while standing weak might not help either. Thus, let's face it with all ammunitions ready and to some extent participate in the unstoppable "Human vs Robotic staff" war.
Of course, I strongly stand by the fact, that this is going to be happening for real and it will also cost many jobs which has been a routine all this while, but how soon?
Preparing against Automation/AI war?
1. First phase of revolution might be a collaboration of man and a robot, both would be dependent on each other. Man will be pleased to run and control a machine that can perform a similar kind of task almost like him and machine will be pleased to get errors corrected and working continuously asking for no/minimal wages until its ready to replace his human peer. We might not be able to even figure out the fact and change which we were not prepared for . This will be the time when we, the humans need to explore new areas where a machine will not intrude for next few years. (R & D is what i can think of immediately while i am writing this).
2. Second phase of revolution might be a tug of war between both “man and machine”, where organizations will be compelled to go lean in order to survive and this might happen with big bang leaving tremors all over. So if this happens soon, it will be way more dramatic than that we would ever expect. This phase will require for us to get prepared as of yesterday and the easiest way of dealing without losing time with this is to prepare future generations of workers through public education. It will just not be to survive but a student must be prepared to switch jobs every few years, create their own job opportunities and curate their own careers. As those days are long gone, when we complete four years in a degree program and settle down for a job for all our life.
3. Third and fourth phase will be all about payback time for Automation/AI monster, it will create immense opportunities for us for a mere fact that “a master can only rule” and not the other way round. Emphasizing only on a transdisciplinary education system for all, where students aspiring dissimilar professional routes form squads, participate with establishments, help sort real-world complications and realize ground-breaking resolutions that create value for the social order. This will only happen if the global authorities feel the need; something like “the human rights”, as I feel there is nothing more rightful for the human rights to reserve our rights against robots.?
To Summarize the above, it's each one of us who needs to think differently and capitalize on our strength to get prepared for a nearing apocalypse. There will not be too many bodies interested in helping us understand that some of us might be out of job in a few years if we stop learning new skills followed by finding ways to implement them in our day to day world. Please do share your opinion and comments for all to get a wider view on the subject.

6 年Good read and you have highlighted very important yet obvious point here which is generally ignored by us(read = humans , professionals or individuals) is the need to change/upskill and be ready to face whatever is changing with time. That’s how we evolve as humans and professionals. Continue writing it works as a reminder for all of us ????
