In Loving Memory, all that lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, baseball coach John Altobelli, and his wife Keri, and their daughter Alyssa, mother and daughter Sarah and Payton Chester, and basketball coach of the Mamba Academy, Christina Mauser, and the pilot Ara Zobaya.
My poem is dedicated to anyone who has lost a loved one recently, so tragically and so untimely. We can't write the chapter of their unfinished lives, and those who were left behind can never share that future. Never to hold them in the warm embrace of their love, no words to say how much they meant, and nothing can replace that empty space they left behind.
May God hold the surviving hearts that beat in sorrow in his hands and help them to carry the burden for their irreplaceable loss.
DO WE GO TO A BETTER PLACE
Do we go to a better place...where we don't measure time and space?
Do we feel sad leaving our world of flesh...when all we knew was so immeshed.
Do we see the tears of those left behind...and yet they live on for our humankind.
Do we see our lives like movie panes...all the joy, laughter, tears, and pain.
Do we wish we could have done...so much more under the light of the sun.
And do we feel much regret...not a wager you'd want to bet.
But it's so finite when we go to the light...ironic to find it with permanent night.
What happens when that time is now...does our soul cope does it know how?
Do we take the pain, do we take the sorrow...for never having another tomorrow?
We've hurt others and hurt are we...do we hold that pain for eternity?
They say you can't take it with you...it's the material things you know...
Planted as small as a mustard seed you sow...nurtured from the heart love can grow.
For love is the only thing that we can bring...into heaven's gate where Angels sing.
You don't get a second chance to do what's right...so do it now while you still have the might!
Whatever love tasks you, whatever the cost...a small price to pay when your loved one is lost.
And don't let a grudge weigh down your hearts...forgive that person before they depart.
Word of advice always do right...your heart and spirit will feel so light.
Here's to hoping that you too will take on the task...for an act of kindness forever will last.
Be kind, be faithful and above all forgive...it will lift you up and help you to live.
While you're here give the love from your heart...so others may take it when they depart.
Do we go to a heavenly place...where we don't measure time and space?
I hope that we do and it's a promise I treasure...and that love we're promised we cannot measure.
