Do We Get What We Give?
Here’s a digital sketch I created one day.

Do We Get What We Give?

The Difference Between What We Believe, Know, and Is So

Is the world around us a mirror? In other words, do we get what we give?

It seems true if you read the work of ancient masters like Lau Tzu. For example, the world would seem like a mirror when we smile and treat others well.

“The wise man does not lay up his own treasures. The more he gives to others, the more he has for his own.”

The same could be said if one scoffs and treats others poorly. On the surface, it appears that we give what we get. The rationale is the same as we are what we think, which makes sense.

But could we prove the theory scientifically? I’m no scientist, but I researched to learn the answer because I’m a hobby philosopher who loves to read many books and share what I’m learning as one way of helping to make the world a better place before I croak.

Philosophy Is The Love of Wisdom

I love philosophy, psychology, and the realm of the Gods that preceded the one we continue to fight over today. I love philosophy, psychology, and the realm of the Gods that preceded the one we continue to fight over today.

Philosophy is a field that seeks to understand fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. It uses critical thinking, analysis, and reflection to examine complex issues and develop new insights and perspectives.

Philosophy includes sub-disciplines, such as metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, logic, and aesthetics, focusing on specific aspects of philosophy. Overall, philosophy provides insights and perspectives that help us make sense of our existence and the world around us.

Talking With a Brother From a Different Mother

Over the weekend, I had coffee with a brother from a different mother. His name is Jac. During our conversation, I said, “The world is a mirror.” He’s one of the few people I know who “gets life” and lives it to the fullest.

We were talking about dealing with people in the business of life. Jac is in his late 30s, and since I’m more than twice his age and our souls are timeless, we align magically well as friends who met doing business.

Jac loved the line and told me he would write an article. Hearing that was where he was going with the concept. I decided to see if I could validate it scientifically, even though I genuinely suck at science.

Naturally, I leaned on the internet, and technology, to help me do some helpful research. Here’s what I found.

The Difference Between Metaphysics and Science

Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy that deals with fundamental questions about the nature of reality and existence. It asks questions about the nature of being, the universe, and truth. Metaphysics seeks to answer questions that cannot be answered by empirical observation or scientific experimentation.

On the other hand, science is a systematic approach to understanding the natural world through empirical observation, experimentation, and analysis. It deals with questions that can be answered through empirical observation and experimentation. Unlike metaphysics, science relies on data and evidence to test hypotheses and theories.

One key difference between metaphysics and science is their approach to knowledge. Metaphysics relies on rational inquiry and introspection to understand reality, while science relies on empirical observation and experimentation.

Another difference is that science seeks to explain phenomena regarding natural causes and laws. In contrast, metaphysics deals with questions that go beyond natural phenomena and seek to explain the ultimate nature of reality.

While science and metaphysics seek to understand the world around us, they differ in their methods and the types of questions they ask. Science aims to provide a naturalistic explanation for phenomena, while metaphysics seeks to understand the fundamental nature of reality.

Hypothesis — The World Is a Mirror, and We Get What We Give

The concept that the world is a mirror, a reflection of our energy, thoughts, and how we show up in the world, is not a scientific hypothesis that can be proven using empirical evidence.

It is a philosophical idea that is based on subjective experiences and beliefs.

While it may be true that our thoughts and attitudes can influence our experiences and interactions with the world, it is impossible to prove this using a simple split test like the one you proposed. There are several reasons for this:

1. Correlation vs. Causation.?Just because there is a correlation between your behavior and how people respond to you does not necessarily mean that your behavior is causing their response. Other factors could influence their behavior, such as their thoughts and attitudes.

2. Control Group.?In a scientific experiment, it is essential to have a control group that does not receive the treatment. In this case, you would need a group of people who do not interact with you, so you can compare their behavior to those who do interact with you.

3. Randomization.?In a split test, the groups need to be randomly assigned to ensure that any differences in behavior between the groups are not due to preexisting differences between the groups.

4. Replication.?For a scientific experiment to be considered valid, it needs to be replicated by independent researchers to ensure that the results are not due to chance.

Therefore, while the idea that the world is a mirror of our energy, thoughts, and behavior may be true in some sense, it is not a scientific hypothesis that can be proven using a simple split test.

Scientifically speaking, “the world is a mirror” is a philosophical concept based on subjective experiences and beliefs. At the same time, metaphysically speaking, the world seems like a mirror because it seems we get what we give.

Therein lies the difference between what we believe, know and what is so.
