Do we, fundraisers, still have a problem?

We are all excited.  Suddenly there are three vaccines in the final stages.  People are talking about getting vaccinated before Christmas.  I, personally, believe that there is a strong possibility that ‘social distancing’ and ‘bubbles’ will be thrown away.  “The vaccine is the answer.”

The medicos are clear that it will be early summer before we can start relaxing.  If my prediction is right, it could be later.  So, don’t count on the London Marathon or any real events with real people.

We still need to focus on our supporters.  Where fundraisers have done this, and done it well, they have seen almost unbelievable results.  They have seen supporters as partners in their mission.

Remember, fundraising is not about persuading people to give to your charity.

Fundraising is about inspiring people to make a difference to the world by giving to your cause, and feeling great about it.

As Richard Turner wrote at the weekend: “Altruism is like water – once it begins to flow it will find a course.  People will find a way to feel good and if you don’t offer them the opportunity they will seek it elsewhere.”

This Wednesday 25th there is a free webinar.  Behind it are six principles.  Most of the content, though, is seven fundraisers, from charities and organisations of all shapes and sizes, presenting, live, very different case studies of success, and a live Q&A session.  There are still some places.  90 minutes of your time at 2 o’clock.
