Do Not Underestimate the Importance of Math

Do you detest mathematics? Are you confused as to why you learned trigonometry or the Pythagorean theorem? Do you feel you will never use the mathematical formula you learned again?
If you have answered yes to any of the preceding questions, understand that I was in your shoes. My time spent doing pure and advanced mathematics felt like a waste of time on a regular basis. I could see no future where I would use any of the things I was learning. However, some years later, I realised the true importance of mathematics and how it assisted me. Eventually, I realised that math was the most critical subject I had ever taken, and I want to show you why it is the most crucial subject in your life.?
For a long time, math has been made compulsory in schools worldwide because math is a pattern that calls for analysis and problem-solving. Math is so crucial that it's used in science, business, and everyday life. Over thousands of years, it has become more than just numbers on paper. It's now used for everything from messaging to flying rockets into space.
Math may make you shudder, but the truth is that math has the power to transform your life. Let's examine how in three areas.
Math Is Problem-Solving
Neil Degrasse Tyson articulated it best.
?Problem-solving is the process of finding solutions to complex issues. Because dealing with problems and issues is a part of life, we all need to be well-versed in how to do it. All great problem-solving takes the same six steps:
?The interesting thing is that these would be the steps to solve an issue, be it in one's personal life, finances, or interactions with others. But if you look at these steps closely just one more time, doesn't something seem familiar? These exact steps are also followed when solving any mathematical equation. Herein lies the beauty of mathematics.
People who are good at math can process information more quickly than others. This means that math can actually make your brain think faster. Who doesn't want that? I know I do!
?But, of course, we all had that smarty pants in school that would be the first to answer every question. At the same time, the rest of us struggled not to get left behind in class.?
Mr Smarty Pants was good at answering math questions quickly because his brain was faster than yours. A study at Stanford University highlighted that students who were good at math had better visual attention and decision-making skills.?
Math is a superpower you can take advantage of if you put in the work.
??Math Helps In Our Everyday Life??
We all use math in some form or fashion more often than we think. For example, when we catch the bus, shop for groceries, or create a budget for the upcoming month. A grasp of mathematics can make you more cost-effective and better with money. Take accounts as another example. Again, take it from me, but accounts are basic mathematics with different rules.?

To enter the culinary field, you must have a good foundation in mathematics. Why? When making a meal for one person, the number of ingredients and portions is easy to track. In contrast with a restaurant, they can be anywhere from six to twelve tables with five guests.?
Entrepreneurs and business owners also need mathematics. You’ve probably heard the expression, “Math is the language of business.” This is true because math gives you a way to quantify and analyse your business—to understand it as a system.
The ability to understand financial data and use statistical analysis is an essential skill for anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur or business person, whether starting their first business or trying to grow their existing company.?
Consider my friend Anna (not her real name). Anna works in marketing and sales for a tech company and often makes spreadsheets to help her get through work faster and easier. Imagine if Anna had yet to learn how to do complex equations like division and multiplication. She would be wasting so much time trying to figure out simple problems like how many units she needed to sell to reach her monthly goal.?
The reality at one point or another we are all like Anna, so why not prepare now?
Math Helps You Push Through Difficulty?
Math is a way to see the world as a series of solutions. Finding one solution for each problem is like getting through one level of your favourite game and then moving onto another stage where more challenges await you!
Math is also a way to see the world as a series of tasks. Think about how easier going from steps 1-2-3 would be if your mind was trained to recognise patterns instead of just trying things randomly until something worked (and probably burning out).
Finally, math can help us understand that any given task isn't too bad once we break it down into manageable steps—like looking at all those fractions and decimals as smaller numbers instead!
Takeaway:?You may not need a lot of math to function in your day-to-day life, but math offers tools that allow us to understand the world and make better decisions.
Math is a language. It is used in every aspect of daily life, not just in the background but also in the foreground of everything we see and encounter. You can save time and lessen stress in your everyday life if you understand it more than you may have imagined. Whether we are aware of it or not, math controls everything. The earlier you learn math, the sooner you'll understand this principle. Secondly, you'll start saving yourself time and aggravation by recognising the rules that matter—the rules that govern our world.
