Do NOT Underestimate the 1%

You see them on television just like me. You see them in movies just like me. The “them” I am talking about are the “famous people.” Those “famous people” seem to have it all in their lives.
Here is what I discovered, years ago, about all those “famous people.” They believe in the power of making a little progress every-single-day even if it is just 1% per day. I am sure, to some, that might seem simplistic but it really works.
The power of consistency can’t be overstated. What you and I do, once-in-a-while, does not have the power to become something extraordinary. What you and I do, consistently, can change our lives and the lives of thousands of people in the world.
Writer Akiroq Brost shares, “It may not seem like a big deal at the time but the decisions we make today add up to affect the future. If we consistently push ourselves to make better decisions, our efforts will add up. We will notice a difference in the quality of our lives, our well being and our relationships with others.”
Many years ago, in Aesop’s Fables, he writes, “There once was a speedy hare who bragged about how fast he could run. Tired of hearing him boast, Slow and Steady, the tortoise, challenged him to a race. All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.
Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, "How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?" Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."
Slow and Steady walked and walked. He never, ever stopped until he came to the finish line. The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise, they woke up Hare. Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise was over the line. After that, Hare always reminded himself, "Don't brag about your lightning pace, for Slow and Steady won the race!"
Steady progress, even 1% per day, will make a dramatic impact in your life. Consistency creates ripples which turn into waves which changes the landscape of your life. The opposite is true. If you make 1% progress, per day, then stop for more than a few days it not only eliminates all the progress you made but leaves you in a deficit.
Author Edmond Mbiaka said, “Consistency with the right strategic plan is the ultimate key to success. Yesterday's action would never make up for today's procrastination.”
There is, however, something that is unseen by those who practice the 1% rule. They get discouraged too. They feel like giving up too. They get frustrated with the speed of their progress too. The difference, however, is they surround themselves with positive, inspirational and motivational people who pull and push them forward. You must do the same thing if you wish to reach any level of success.
Theoretical Physicist Albert Einstein is said to have said, “It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.”
The more I study famous and successful people the more I realize they have “issues” and problems too. In fact, they make more mistakes than you and I combined. Why? They are working harder and longer to achieve their goals than either of us on a daily basis. 1%, per day, matters…greatly.
Make progress, 1% per day, and watch your life change dramatically.
I Believe in you.
