Do not try to sell?

Do not try to sell?

Humble offering to all the selling souls ??

We see so much of pretense, drama, pushing away, ignoring, so many lies and a lot of mess when someone is selling. Finally, at some point, our ego takes charge with different spells. With all our polymorphic verbal and non-verbal communication, we say it loud and clear - "Do not try to sell ". The synonymous or antonymous constructs could be “I know” or “Do not waste time”, “I won’t buy” or similar other expressions.

Why do we have so many problems when someone else is selling? However, when our own self engages in selling, we expect miracles to touch our feet. Wow!

Let us consider a simple question - Have we done anything in life , which is not about selling? Have we done anything other than selling?

Possibly, NONE. Oh yes, this could be enlightening!

Of course, we can try to articulate different expressions, however, finally, we may realize that all we have been doing is just selling. Could range from the nectar to the crap. Be it the intent, content, context or anything tangible/intangible, the central dynamics has always been about “selling”.

Let us take a stock of what we all do at a high level - Could be for ourselves, for others or for both.

  1. We express/communicate in all parts of speech - Whatever we express/communicate, we sell "what we express/communicate" or something around "what we express/communicate"
  2. We act/perform in various ways - Whatever we act/perform, we sell "what we act/perform" or something around "what we act/perform".
  3. We Learn about various subjects/objects - Whatever we learn, we sell our learnings or something around "what we learn about those subjects/objects"

and... we can go on....

"I am good", "this one is better", "he is not fine", "try this", "do this", "do this way", "learn this", "I know this", "I am hungry", "I need food" .... take anything we speak or act or both on a daily basis. The origin spins around selling. At the core, We are selling what we speak or act or experience.

We are so deep in selling, we miss to appreciate its existence, it has become part of "who we are". We are seller human beings selling every moment including those moments.

The quality, quantum, effort, time, duration and impact of selling could be different, however, every moment, we have been selling in our own ways and keep learning new ways to do it better, easier and so on.

Right from the first till the last breath - we can deeply examine everything we did, doing and will be doing, we will find its lowest common denominator in selling.

Whether we buy or sell, only the reference changes, who sells does not matter, however, our lives run around selling.

What we sell, when do we sell, why do sell, how we sell are all just incidental or accidental or some complex variant of these two variables.

We run into varieties of situations in this journey:

  1. When we try to project something else in the name of selling. Call it a pretense.
  2. When we are not able to sell what we want to sell. Call it lack of skill / awareness/ knowledge/ training etc.
  3. When we sell something which we don't like. Call it a compulsion (unfortunately!)
  4. When we sell something which we really like. Call it a chance (fortunately!)
  5. When we sell and it sells. Call it a success
  6. When we sell and it does not sell. Call it a struggle (sounds familiar?)

By design, all human beings are champions in selling. If we are reading this, it means that we have been able to do plenty of selling so far. Yes, a few or a lot of "not selling" would have been as well.

Our performance may not have been perfect all the time. Remember, We have been on a learning journey.

What next?

First of all, we could realize that, we all are sellers. Our ways could be different, the context, the intent and the content could vary. With this realization, we could possibly at least be graceful and empathetic with our fellow sellers.

Whether we realize or not, the entire planet has been selling with some purpose, to some people for making profit in some way or the other.

Keep Selling! Happy Selling!
