Do the Things You Want to Do
"We are living in the age of the Jetsons and it's being wasted on the whiniest generation."
- Charles Alexander??
I always think it's a little much when someone quotes themselves on social media.? You know, the branded text block that says something profound, and then they put their name, logo, or website at the bottom.? I mean, I get it.? That's your quote.? But still...??
However, I'm sticking with the one above.? I said that.? I'm sure someone else has said it better, but I'm staying with my assessment.??
And yes, I'm throwing myself in the mix.
I rant, rave, whine, and complain about my magic spacephone, smart cars, and ChatGPT. ?But seriously, I think ChatGPT is getting dumber them more it hangs out with us.
The truth is that we live in a time where we can do almost anything we want within reason.
Yet, we seem to be busier and more unhappy than ever.
How did we get here?

In 1930, famed economist,?John Maynard Keynes opined that by 2030, people would work only 15 hours per week. His worry was that the progression new world advancements would be so great that we wouldn't know how to fill our free time.? Well, we showed him??
One of the best books I've read on hitting the reverse switch to doing what you want is The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.
The concept is pretty simple.
Answer some questions very similar to the following:
- What are the things that other people say you do really well?
- What are the work projects that you really excel at and enjoy doing?
- What are you passionate about?
- What do you love doing most in your business (the important things that you get so engrossed in that you lose track of time)?
The answers won't make you bullet proof to revamping your purpose in life, yet they are a good reminder of how to get back to doing more by doing less.
