Do the thing, get the thing...
In large parts we are a quick fix, want now society. That's toxic for things like resilience and courage. We are losing these critical life elements and losing them fast.
We want to do one Peloton class and be ready for the Tour De France. We want to lick a lettuce leaf and become health guru's. We are absorbed by the influencers who can 10x our lives in 3 easy clicks.
This is not life.
We're not born with a wealth of knowledge, we gradually absorb as we get older. Yes, we can fast-track in places and some can absorb quicker but the point is it isn't immediate. It's a time thing and we have to do things before we get the learning.
We have to learn before we get knowledge.
We have to do the exercise before we get the fitness.
We do the correct eating before the health.
We do the training and then we summit Kilimanjaro.
We do things in advance that lead us towards a desired state...
As part of this we learn and this is where we build the courage and resilience. By training when we don't feel like it. By reading that chapter because we know it helps with career development or a new job. By taking some time out before our heads explode with stress.
The journey is where the magic happens and we need to embrace it. This the leads us towards success.

For example...
You do the scary thing by committing to climb Kilimanjaro. Instant courage as you've done something bold.
You commit to a training plan and follow it to the tee. Even through tough times and bad weather. You build resilience.
On the mountain you put one foot in front of the other until you reach the top. Resilience AND courage with a splattering of pride, happiness and wellbeing.
In a 6-month period you can transform your life.
This is what doing the thing before getting the thing, means. You have to dig in, at times dig deep and keep a focus. Then, when you get your summit certificate (article picture), it's deserved and you can keep pushing those personal boundaries which positively impact all areas of your life.
