Do and Teach

Do and Teach

Today's devotional is from Life is a Goldmine: Can You Dig It?

"And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers" - Exodus 35:34-35.

It appears that God not only gifted some of the men of Israel to be craftsmen, He also gifted some to teach those same crafts skills to others. When you teach anything, every class or lesson is an expression of creativity, and no two lessons or classes are the same. They are impacted by the students, their questions, their level of skill or giftedness, the mood of the teacher, the nature of the subject (which may be changing or impacted by new knowledge or technology), and the goals of those being taught (some may want to teach eventually, others may want new skills for professional or personal needs).

Are you a teacher in any setting? Do you see that as a creative expression? Are you looking for new ways to impart your lessons or knowledge? Are you having fun with your teaching opportunities? Are you devoting all the creativity you can to those teaching moments?

Lord, I admit that I have taken much of what I do and who I am for granted. I don't stop to think and then thank You for the abilities I have to create, and that includes my teaching opportunities—whether at work, church, or in my home. What's more, I have the Internet at my fingertips to use as a teaching aid and source. I realize now that I am uniquely gifted to both do and teach, and I accept those dual roles with enthusiasm.
