Do These to take your Copy Storytelling to the Next Level

Do These to take your Copy Storytelling to the Next Level

Want to take your Copy Storytelling to the Next Level?

You can do it in these 7 easy steps...

P.S: I wanted to make this a normal LinkedIn post. But it was longer than a LinkedIn post could take. But the knowledge had to be shared, So I decided to make it my first LinkedIn article..

You see, in copy, stories are everything.

Why?

° Stories carry emotion & culture.

You already know that humans are more reactive to emotions than rationality 98% of the time.

But that's not even the juice of it...

The core of this is that...

Humans have this tendency toward something I call this 'mirror philosophy'

We are social beings.

Once we find a story that shows us a bit of ourselves in it, we automatically become 'cuddle mates'

We thrive in culture...

That 'people like me' factor... Once we find it, we're glued!

Knowing all these, how do you take your copy-telling to another level?

° Step 1; Never Go Linear

Don't you ever try building up a story!

Trying to tell it through from the beginning and work your way to the end?

Don't do it!

You'll lose people's attention!

You can do this...

Switch the pattern...

√ Middle - beginning - end

OR

√ End - middle - beginning

Compare this...

"While I was at the park to take a bus from to the market"

Yada yada...

Boring!

How about this?

"Everyone was still.

Quiet.

You could read fear on the faces.

What could have happened?"

See?

Much better right?

Step 2: Cut Veins Open

Be a double-sword ninja with your story.

Tear your prospect's veins Open.

Create an expectation.

"This one simple trick helped me roll my real estate from a meager worth of $20,000 to $750,000"

But before I share that, let me quickly add this..

See?

You just created an expectation.

And people will wait for it.

Especially if it's something that intrigues them...

Next...

Step 3: Switch Sentences with Words

Stories are never rich cos how the word count!

As a good copy-teller.

ALWAYS find ways to Say More With Less.

Compare...

"He was tired and confused.

All his hopes for a better life have now disappeared before his eyes"

To this...

"Tired. Confused. All hopes crushed!"

Much better and juicier right?

Step 4: Make them see, not just hear

I know you were waiting for that right? Haha...

Use words that can put people right in the middle of the action!

Compare...

"The place was packed full of people.

Everyone shouted at the top of their lungs"

To this...

The place was a market.

Voices rang louder than alarm bells...

See?

Visual words; Market, Ring, Alarm bells...

Step 5: Knock off Buzzwords!

Some words and expression are just tasteless!

E.g...

"Once bitten, twice shy"...

"Make hay while the sun shines"...

In a Copy?

Switch up those words with unusual stuff they can funnily relate with...

Instead of...

"Cream of the crop"

I'd rather use something like...

"Cream of the Shawarma"...

Admit it! That made you visualize something...

Right?

Well, of course it depends also depends on what your audience can relate with

Onward...

Step 6: Be a Rogue, Take a Detour

Yeah, I know...

People love an 'happily-ever-after' story, yes.

But you don't have to be stiff about it.

Look at this short story snippet...

"We had no money for his surgery.

We begged at every turn. Called in all the favours we could..

Until, we tried the option crowdfunding..

And..

That was the lifesaver!.

Well, almost..

6.9 million was raised out of 7.5 million.

All sources had been used up!

We rushed to the doctor to beg for some more time..

Shocker?

Someone had cleared up the bills!

See that?

It could have been predicted that the story would end where they had to try the option of crowdfunding...

But we don't want that.

If possible, don't let your 'happily-ever-after' come where they expected!

Step 7: Close the Vein!

Hey Ninja... Remember you slit a vein open 5 blocks away...

Now, apply a band-aid!

You don't want your prospect to bleed out!

Give them what they had waited so long to have..

Yeah, the 'Real Estate Fortune Trick!'

Don't make a promise you won't fulfill..

That's a wrap!
