Do Something Great

When's the last time you took a good hard look in the mirror? It can be hard to see how our actions might be impacting our relationships and when we are the ones getting in our way. When we take the time to really reflect on how we respond, we can make great things happen.
If you haven't heard of Tenth Avenue North you should check them out. They are a Christian band but their message is relevant regardless of your higher power. When I notice my "judgement dial" turned up, I love to listen to their song Losing. The lyrics help to ground myself and move past hurt and/or heavy feelings.
"God give me grace to forgive them because I feel like the one losing..."
Want to feel more connected to the ones around you? Choose to forgive them, regardless of whether you want to. Why? It cuts the chains that will bind you to that event. You won't get stuck in the past. It won't suck the energy you need to create great things in the now.
Most people don't know my middle name is Grace. Life has convinced me that my dad picked this name because he intuitively knew I would struggle with providing grace to myself and those around me. I promise, we all can learn to exersize grace through even the most challenging situations.
Like most, I am still a work in progress. However, deciding to offer grace is possible for everyone. At Fitlife Foods, one of our core values is to be contagiously optimistic. This doesn't mean our team members are always happy or have it all figured out. It simply means we understand when we need to stop, take a pause, and reflect on the best way to move through complex situations. Doing this allows for more human in our interactions and connectedness.

Now it's your turn. How do you exersize your "grace" muscles? When you feel all you want to do is distance yourself from others, how to you bring yourself back to a place of calm and peace? Can you tell us about a time you struggled with this?
Looking forward to more conversation in the comments. That is where the magic happens.
Always #bethechage you want to see in others. If all else fails, shut your eyes, take a deep breathe and exhale "let that sh*t go".

2 年Sabrina Permuth, SHRM-SCP This was such a great read. I can’t highlight the word “Grace” enough because it’s a bridge that we should always remember is there for us and others. Thank you for sharing this article I am going to remember these words and actions the next time I am tempted to react or respond from a place that is not honoring and imparting “Grace” and “Mercy.”??

3 年Bingo! We often tend to look for flaws in others and rarely want to take a closer look in the mirror. It is just easier to blame others while not seeing ourselves through the eyes of those who work with us. Sabrina Permuth, SHRM-SCP, thank you for this short article as it touches the truth many of us all like to bury. Improvement starts with self-discovery, acknowledgement of the flaws and best effort put towards making a progress.
