Do Something
Thank You Piers Morgan for reminding me this morning of the ignorance and inhumane attitudes that still exists out there, in relation to the future of our planet.
I’m really not one for posting something like this but I want to do something. After all my children and grandchildren will always ask why the people they rely on most stood by and did nothing.
The climate protests in London are aimed and making society stop and think and making us all reconsider our choices. We have all made choices and may well have lives that are imperfect, in terms of having a negative environmental impact but that doesn't mean we cant act.
The disruption we have seen this week in London and in cities across the world is an unfortunate consequence of raising awareness. And I really feel for the small businesses being impacted especially. But, do we really understand what we are facing into? An atmosphere that is heating quicker than at any time in the last 1 billion years and this is indeed accelerating way beyond the tipping point. If we don't reverse this there will rising sea levels with hundreds of millions of people being displaced, there will be aggressive global storm activity that may kill millions and displace hundreds of millions of people, and ultimately (if not corrective solution is found) then there genuinely will be mass extinction across species (yes, we are not the only species) and the end, as we know it, of the beautiful eco-system called earth.
Anytime who knows me will know that I am not known as being an environmental activist but I feel compelled to do something. My something won’t be protests on the streets (though I do believe these do have a role to play), rather leveraging my amazing and morally grounded friends across industry and business to do something that creates a different angle to change. I have some plans and projects but I am also free and ready to join causes that will make a difference. So when the when the question is asked by future generations I know I have acted, not out of self gratification but because we now have no choice.
I know this won't resonate with many and denial is still rife. Freedom of speech must always prevail @piersmorgan .
Please reach out and please respond and let’s get momentum and mobilise something.

5 年Biggest impact you can personally have is by changing your eating habits. Animal agriculture is one of the largest contributing factors to rainforest deforestation, uses magnitudes more water and for production versus plants, creates ground and water pollution from the run-off, disproportionately utilizes plant food production for animals rather than fellow human beings, etc etc. So in summary, eat more plants and eat less (or even better, no) animals. Sorry, couldn't resist! ;-)

5 年I've already decided. Bike instead of car. Small house instead of big house. Public transport whenever I can. And most importantly and I cannot stress this enough. Buying less stuff and eating less stuff.?
