Do the skill sets that you develop in school take you forward in life?

#newdaynewchapter is a Blog narrative started on March 1, 2021 co-founded by Kishore Shintre & Sonia Bedi, to write a new chapter everyday for making "Life" and not just making a "living"
Remember those days full of complicated sums and theorems of mathematics, particularly algebra, geometry and later on Trigonometry or Calculus which took heavy toll on our pleasure during school and college days? When we look back at our school and college education systems in our life we always wonder whether one could take a new path sometimes once or sometimes many times.
We find that there are people who go into law school and choose to be traders instead, or those who study architecture in college might become a baker in their career. A lot of society’s pressures pushes us to seek school admission by paying hefty fees and then find work to earn living and finally we need money to buy a house, get married and have kids and so on.
Have we questions anytime, as to why? We must as an individual choose for ourselves what we want because we are the ones who live with our choices. So if you already are working and going to school know that when we are doing something we want, we do it, and don’t ask questions because it feels natural to us. Take it like choosing anything in life, you are drawn to certain people, places, and things and you automatically take action towards it without question. Regardless of anything know everything in life has its ups and downs, so no matter what you choose remember as long as you feel good inside go for it.
A very important thing here is not to lose your sense of self-respect and where you intend to go in life. When you can write it all down on a post-it-note or two and stick on your wall -as a daily reminder of what we want to be and that’s what I have done in the past. Also the second important thing is to constantly and consciously reorient your efforts towards your goals, or understand what you have to do in such a way that it all makes sense as steps towards said goals.
By this way, all your self-sacrifice, all your toil, it will feel like it is going towards a positive end. and that feeling will help you endure a lot of suffering and this is a method which I copied from a great blogger, it’s good to keep a ‘task sheet’ that keeps track of what you have managed to do over the course of a month. you can mark off what you’ve finished with cute stickers if you want. the task sheet will help you review where you did the best and where you’re not doing as well as you want to be. it’s a good way to keep in touch with yourself.
As long as you are balancing work and school, consider your pivot point something that makes you happy. Is it time alone, a walk in the park, seeing a movie with a friend? Whatever it is it is just as necessary as school and work for without happiness the other two soon become pure drudgery and then you are better off without one or the other in order to make time for creating your own happiness. Is your current job only to fund your life during school?
If that is so, just be the best manager you can, learn all you can on the job and consider it a part of your education or change jobs and get something somewhat related to what you hope to be in 5 years. Consider all the jobs as learning/training sites for you because what we learn and what we earn from are two different things in life. That is why we find Engineering degree holders working in banks or Chartered Accountants are doing Customer Relationship Management or whatever.
