Woxsen University has set in motion an SDG-wheel to direct core activities and innovations with an aim of social impact. The core goals aligned to are:

SDG No. 1: No Poverty

·??????The university hosts a chapter called “Street Cause” a nationwide present entity that focused on the social uplifting of rural India. 100+ students contribute in the form of donations, goods, or time to the cause. This complements the Rotaract Club activities prevailing on campus.?

·??????Rural Entrepreneurship project aims at helping rural people in the vicinity of Woxsen University through entrepreneurship, a team consisting of 7 members visited Kamkole village, Telangana, India interacted with the villagers.

?SDG 3: Good Health & Wellbeing

·??????Mindficent Series - Esteemed mental health speakers are invited every alternate month to interact and connect with the students and staff at Woxsen

·??????The human library is an initiative that addresses people’s prejudice by initiating a dialogue between real human stories and the readers.

·??????A confidential & safe space for students who have undergone or undergoing any kind of sexual harm and abuse to share their stories in an empathetic and non-judgemental environment. The Student Wellness Cell will provide help, assistance, and group counseling to anyone in need.

· Candid Talks is an initiative to reach out to all students individually and have a one-to-one conversation about Young Adult Life.

·??????Heart – Unlocked is an initiative of the Community Service Volunteers to reach out to the Woxsen students and create a circle of support.

?SDG 4: Quality education

·??????Partnered with Monmouth University to offer education to 250 underprivileged children.

·??????The institution’s Rotaract club takes up sessions on personal & community hygiene.

SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals

·??????With 90+ academic partners, 20+ corporate collaborations in CSR, and numerous NGOs on the roster, the university has joined hands with some of the ablest individuals and organizations to ensure the materialization of the SDGs.

Additionally, the university releases Seed Grant to the most deserving research proposals for undertaking longitudinal projects in line with SDGs 1, 3, 7, 11, and 14.

Woxsen’s research output in the year 2020 had 25% of its publications with a social impact focus while in 2021 it increased to 27% and 31% in 2022 and running.?

Similarly, the university works closely with PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) across various segments such as pedagogical innovations and cross-institutional ESG projects.?

Yes, SDGs are important goalposts for us to avert the disaster of our own making that is looming large at us. We need to work aggressively to counter the effects of unbridled capitalism that has been running amok like a mad elephant for the past couple of centuries.
