Do read, if you believe in Wealth !!
Wealth is an amplifying factor for everything we do.
Wealth doesn't make a person good or bad.
It amplifies an individual's personality. But, what it does also amplify is the amount of impact you can make.
Wealth has power. Power over yourself, power of freedom, the power to crush constraints and restraints, the power to provide a good life to your family, and finally power of numbers.
The power of wealth when your family is sick and you having the ability to hire a helicopter and take them to the best hospital and the best doctors.
The power of wealth when you want to fulfill your dreams and goals, and the money buying your ticket to a world tour.
The power of wealth when you want to contribute to a cause, and the money amplifying the impact it can make to fulfill that cause.
There is so much good that money can do.
Now, if you believe in wealth, let's talk about how you can work towards generating wealth and alongside brewing a happy life.
a. Add Value
What value can you exchange for the wealth you want to generate?
Can you make someone richer, happier, lower their costs, and finally solve their problems?
You generate wealth proportional to the problem you solve.
Elon Musk got richer solving the problem of Space Travel and consumer-worthy electric cars.
Jeff Bezos is the richest person in the world as he solved the problem of normal people selling digitally, fast logistics, and tremendously lowering the cost for both buyers and sellers.
Now, as a career, the more value you can add which impacts an organization in the macro business perspective, the more money you will make.
A finance consultant makes more money than someone in admin, due to the high value the consultant provides.
You buying shares for companies helps them grow their capital and scale.
Solve bigger problems to generate more wealth.
b. Essentialism
When I talked about wealth, I didn't mean 3 BMWs, a corvette, jewelry, and jets.
If that's what you want. Bravo. You are at least employing people. Get the economy going. Better than the ones who complain about the wealthy but just are lazy or envious.
But, making sure that your cost of living isn't very high is always helpful.
How does it help you?
You don't buy things which you don't need to impress people whom you don't like.
Now, what can you do with this? You don't have to do that job that you hate just because you need to pay your bills.
When you get stuck on hating what you do, you can never get wealthy. You will be stuck with anything and everything that maintains your lifestyle.
c. Invest in Long Term
Now, since you don't need a lot of things, What you do is invest in something which might need 3 years to succeed but when it does, either you make a lot of money or you build so many skills that you start charging high for your failure.
Yeah yeah. Everyone wants to get rich fast. I do too. But it's a long game if you want to be ethical and make sure its sustainable
So, you don't invest your time on something that just keeps you running for the month but dries up in the end. And, you get into this vicious cycle and never stop.
It's about compounding. An upward curve rather than a straight one where Y-Axis is your wealth and X-Axis is time.
Also, it really helps if you do this in your 20s. You will have too many needs in the 30s with married life and kids.
Buy Shares, fill in IPOs, Invest in companies, but build for the long term.
d. Open your eyes => Close your eyes.
Keep your eyes open in the earlier phases of your career because you need to look for opportunities.
You need to find people like you, people who have a similar passion but also believe in wealth and the volume of impact.
Create a mastermind group.
This phase should be from 1 - 4 years of your career. It's very difficult to get wealthy doing a job. You might make good money, but not tremendous wealth.
And, then when you find enough opportunities and people, close your eyes. Till you automate a lot of things, stop getting distracted.
You need to be tunnel-visioned on these opportunities and work towards their success. Again, not meaning you don't change directions or break or make new things. But, make sure you put your everything and don't get distracted by every new opportunity.
e. Let go of Instant Gratifications, Validations, and distractions
In the world of social media, when you post your small success and you get validations, which in turn makes you really happy that you achieved something, you go back to it.
That's what Mr. Burg wants. He wants you to be delighted with the small achievement you made and posted where a lot of people gave you validation.
And, I am all for small wins. I learned through my mistakes that posting them on social was not really a good idea.
It spiked my dopamine with notifications, took away my time and mental energy while not even using the device, had me talk with people I don't need to talk with, distract me with so much I don't need to know to fulfill my goals.
I do believe these steps help in having a good life and generating wealth.
But, even before working to generate wealth, I think it's important to know that it's not evil as portrayed in the media.
It's something good to have and work towards. I guess if Bill Gates at 21 went to Africa and stayed to feed hungry children, he wouldn't be able to do 0.01% of what he has done today.
So, to fulfill your goals, make a big impact, work towards it, but first, generate wealth to amplify them.
