Do Not PUNCH Your Fellow Co-Workers!

In today's crazy work environment, conflicts are going to happen. They stem from diverse viewpoints, communication gaps, or simply the pressures of deadlines.

However, it is not the the conflict itself, but how we react to it that determines its impact on your teams and businesses. Here is a quick guide on overcoming work place conflicts in a manner that benefits everyone, including the company.

1) EMBRACE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES:

Conflict often arises from different opinions, we all have them, remember that. It is essential to create a culture where these differences are seen not as threats, but as opportunities to learn and innovate.

Encourage open dialogues where your WHOLE team is heard. This not only resolves conflicts but also creates a sense of belonging and respect within the team. There is no I in team.

2) EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING!

We were taught in the military that lack of communication is a common root of workplace conflicts. Promote an environment where team members communicate clearly, listen actively, and give constructive feedback.

There is a MAJOR difference in hearing and active listening. Tools like active listening, paraphrasing for clarity, and avoiding accusatory language can transform a potential conflict in to positive discussion.

3) FOCUS ON THE ISSUE, NOT THE PERSON:

In conflicts, it is easy to get hung up on emotions and making things personal. Train your team to focus on the mission at hand rather than personalities. This approach not only eases tension but also leads to more objective and solution-focused discussions.

4) COLLABORATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING:

Instead of viewing conflicts as win-lose scenarios, approach them with a problem solving mindset. Engage ALL parties in finding a win-win solution. Techniques like brainstorming sessions and SWOT analysis can be effective in identifying common ground and crafting win-win situations.

5) SEEK EXTERNAL HELP WHEN NEEDED:

Sometimes, conflicts may be too complex to be handled internally. In such cases, seeking help from a mediator or a professional conflict resolution expert can be invaluable. They can provide a neutral perspective and facilitate a resolution that is fair and satisfactory for all parties involved. I prefer to handle conflicts one on one if possible.

6) LEARN AND GROW FROM CONFLICTS:

EVERY, conflict presents a learning opportunity, which I learned from Patrick Bet-David . Encourage your teams to reflect on what worked, what didn't, and how similar situations can be better handled in the future. This not only helps in personal growth but also contributes to creating a more harmonious workplace.

Soooooo, effectively managing workplace conflicts is crucial for the health and welfare of any organization.

REMEMBER... it's not about avoiding conflicts but going through and growing through them.

As always THANK YOU :) for being a HUGE part of my success and letting me be a small part of yours.
