Do promotional items really work?

When you give someone a promotional product, they’ll generally keep it for around eight months, on average.

That’s according to research from the Advertising Specialty Institute, which regularly produces a bunch of data on this type of advertising.

As a recent article in Forbes points out, eight months is a whole lot longer than your average digital advertisement hangs around.

In other words, in today’s digital world, the best-performing advertising money might just be spent on tangible, physical products.

“There is something unique about receiving a physical item that you can touch, feel, and actually use, that far exceeds the impact of a TV commercial or search ad,” Quality Logo Products CEO Bret Bonnet told Forbes in that article.

5,700: The average promotional bag generates 5,700 impressions in its lifetime. That’s an awful lot of eyeballs on a single advertisement.

200: Average Washingtonians are 200 percent as likely to have favorable opinions of promotional products than they are to appreciate digital advertising.
