DO PODCAST VIEW NUMBERS REALLY COUNT?
When I first started out in the wonderful world of Podcasts, I would say "YES" to every offer from a Podcast Host. After a couple of bad experiences, I got a little more selective. It's a lot like "dating" - one should look into what the other party has to offer, and what a get-together might entail.
I suggest meeting at a "neutral" place (like a ZOOM meeting) for the first encounter. This way you may observe the other individual and get a little information. If you feel comfortable with them, judge their sense of humor, and see how they conduct themselves, it will save regrets later.
If a host has many previous episodes, you can peek into a few of their interviews to get a general feeling for their poise, the questions they might ask you, and the quality of the segment. You can check the number of their "Views" and read the "Comments" that their subscribers leave. This is a great way to predict what your environment will be as a guest.
When I notice that the prospective interviewer has a high number of views (1,000 or more), I'm a little more interested. Once, I was speaking to a host on the phone who promised me more views in his one "movie-like" interview than all the ones I had garnered on my other interviews to date. I was a wee bit skeptical, but he was right....over a MILLION views and still climbing!
The flip side of my sharing here is a suggestion to be open to the host just starting out. If you take the time to view one of a few interviews he/she has, and you feel that they are sincere, have a good attitude, and just need a break with having a popular guest - follow your heart.
If the worst that happens is that the show gets only a few views, but you and the host had a good time...it's a win! I figure that a special few people needed to hear my message and they got it. That's a win, too.

Podcasts are here to stay and are the easiest, most fun way to advertise your story. I love meeting people from all over the planet in my "room" and for the opportunity to share my experiences with people I'd never influence in any other way.
When you read the "Comments" after the interview is posted, it's amazing! Some comments are heart-warming and others make you hair stand up on end! Not everyone is going to love your product/message - but you have reached out to people you could never meet in person. How powerful, rewarding and joyful that feels!
GO FOR IT!
