Do NOT Let Your Loyal People Quit To Find Out How Valuable They Are.
Many bosses like to think and say that everyone is replaceable.
Here is a shocker for them:
1) Loyalty is not something you get dime a dozen. You have to work hard to get it.
2) Institutional knowledge of how systems work, client relationships, relationships with co-workers take time and effort to foster.
3) When you are replacing from outside, you end up paying more than what your last person in the job was making.
4) When your best people quits, it has a domino effect on other loyal employees.
---
Examples
-When a police officer quits, their cases often go cold.
-When a technical person quits, gone is the knowledge of how things work - not everything is documented.
-When a salesperson quits, gone are contacts and relationships - good sales people do not sell, they build relationships.
-When a recruiter quits, gone are relationships with clients.
-When a cook quits, gone are clients who liked the cooking style. One of my friends, a cook, left because of his boss, and the restaurant closed in 6 months.

So why are these bosses do not go out of the way to keep their people ? Too busy with more important and strategic things ?
Culture eats strategy for breakfast !
And loyal people eat other important things for dinner !
Do you agree ?

7 年Gosh Oleg! Don't people who are supposed to be managing understand the value of loyalty? On the other hand, with more and more people doing 3 jobs to put bread on the table , will the concept of loyalty as an important thing ,stay? As the years go by, there will be a change and many people will work remotely and become independent contractors. Won't the concept of loyalty get eroded? I'm hoping not but, these days I see people are more loyal to themselves rather than the company they work for. Of course, I may be totally wrong!
