Do Not Let Age Hold You Back From Dressing Stylishly
One day I was walking by a mirror and happened to catch a glimpse at what I looked like. I was completely embarrassed by how I had let myself go. I had been working so many hours, and also working from home, that I just stopped wearing make-up, stopped ironing my shirts, and was wearing overly baggy pants that were completely unflattering. My hair was pulled back in a ponytail and I had a lot of gray hair. I wasn’t wearing any jewelry, not even my wedding ring. What happened to me?
I had let myself go. When we look good, we feel good, and other people are instantly attracted to us. If we look unkempt and unfriendly, no one is going to want to approach us. In this post, I talk about 4 wardrobe swaps that can make you look younger. So if you’re 50 and up and have let yourself go, try these elevated fashion tips.

A few thoughts to share…
4 Clothing Swaps That Can Make You Appear Younger
You use moisturizer on your hands, serum underneath the eyes, and a retinol cream on your facial area. You occasionally whiten your teeth, and color your hair on a consistent basis. However, if your outfit selections are not keeping up with the current times, you can try the following four simple wardrobe swaps that’ll keep you appearing current and take years off of your appearance — a lot quicker than any anti-wrinkle cream!

Life begins at 50. So, let’s learn some new skills.
1. Brighten That Black

All-black outfits may appear chic when you’re in your thirties. And, at any age, that “Little Black Dress” might be dramatic. However, be cautious of dressing in all black all of the time, especially at those times when you are wearing less makeup.
Blue tops can accentuate blue eyes. Well, did you know that dressing in black will do the same thing to dark shadows and wrinkles?
Instead of black, try wearing earthy neutrals such as olive, camel, or gray. Or keep that black, but dress in a more vibrant shade close to your facial area. A pretty scarf or colorful top won’t just brighten your face, but make you come across as more fun and open.

3. Upgrade Leisure Looks
Right now, athleisure wear is all the rave! Here’s the good news. It’s a comfy fashion. Use the exact same style principles that work for all casual outfits: wear looser joggers along with a fitted top or jacket, or wear skinny leggings with longer tops that complement the body shape. And wear trendier shoes instead of those old school gym sneakers.
4. Try Current Trends

You won’t be able to keep up with all of the trends, and you do not need to. The majority of trends just look good on those in their 20s anyway. Choose one or two trends that fit in with your style then ignore the rest.

Do you like 2024’s Pantone color? Invest in a top in Lemon Drop or Mint to pair with a black jacket. Or you can find a fun scarf or necklace in one of those colors, wear it this season, and then move on.
Some trends only last one or two seasons, while other trends have a longer lifespan. Fashion is always undergoing a change in silhouettes away from tunic tops/skinny bottoms toward wider, longer pants paired with shorter tops.
Dress Stylishly As You Age Gracefully
Aging does not need to mean giving up your own style. As a matter of fact, with some easy swaps, it’s possible to start wearing clothing that makes you appear younger — and be more confident in your personal wardrobe. Fashion keeps evolving, but it’s always possible to remain current in ways that make you appear younger.
