Last week I was reading a book "Potential Plus written by Nimish Ramesh", and that made me introspect on a few critical behaviour we as a society follows, including me. This struck me hard and I am sure that a typical millenneal of this current generation will relate to this subject.
Most of us have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Even after we finish school. Even after we get a job. Even after we’re making money. Between ages 18 and 35, we change career aspirations more often than we change our T-shirts. Was this the dream we dreamt of during our childhood? Is this the ultimate mission of our life? What are we giving back to society? Why do people end up having a midlife and a quarterlife crisis?
Chances are you’re more like many of the millenneals of this age and have no clue what you want to achieve in your life? It’s a struggle almost every adult goes through. “What do I want to do with my life?”
Why did the aspirations change? Was it the pressure from society and Parents? Ultimately many of the millenneals are in a never ending rat race and the idea of success imprinted on our minds by the society is never ending.
The cycle goes like this, School-College- Job- House- Marriage- Kids and then the same cycle repeats with your kid and it is never ending !!
Pressure to suceed and trying to be more successful than our peers and supporting our family is critical, but is that the Karma of our life ?
When was the last time you sat down with yourself and thought about the things you’ve done, achieved or missed? About yourself? Your life?
But we at our weekends are engrossed in our Insta, Netflix, crazy news, Faceboook feed , blah, blah ... Yes a social life is necessary and we all need to chill, but don't we find people tell they dont have time to chase their dreams ??
And it’s not just about millenneals : “…2 billion people’s minds are already jacked into this automated system, and it’s steering people’s thoughts toward either personalized paid advertising or misinformation or conspiracy theories.” says John Harris in his article.
Will, our society and the millennials still have the ability to think critically, when we're trapped in constant dopamine-driven feedback loops that we have created?
But, all is not dull and loom in this world and we have seasoned professionals like Mr Arfeen khan, a life coach who have inspired many individuals like the author of the book who are on a mission to help people realize, unlock, achieve and go beyond their potential.
They believe and make people realise that every problem has a solution and if there is no solution, then there is no problem. In our life, we will come across many tough and complex situation which came in the way of Colonel Sanders, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and many more and they were all successful because they chose to chase their dreams and settle for nothing less.
One thought which keeps hitting my mind from that book is " Elon Musk does not complain about how bad the world is, he is just changing the world. " From Paypal, Tesla, SpaceX to Hyperloop he kept on chasing his dreams and raising the bar high which motivated him to achieve more.
Everyone has potential in their unique way and to unlock all we need is to Seek for a Guru, a Mentor, a Coach, a Friend, a Partner who will help you in chasing your dreams and realising the same.
Do justice to yourself and unlock your potential, and if you find this subject interesting and to discover more try to grab a copy of this amazing book " The Potential Plus, by Nimish Ramesh ".
