If you have ever looked for a job or tried to promote your small business, I bet you have created an elevator pitch. The internet is full of articles telling you how to put one together.
"Talk about your strengths, talk about your goals, keep it short, memorize, etc., etc."
Even if you aren't looking for a job, you're told to have your elevator pitch handy - you never know when you'll need it.
Ditch the Pitch
What if you could easily and naturally eliminate that awkward moment and start a great conversation with anyone when they asked you, “What do you do?” What if you didn't have to memorize a 30-60 second pitch? What if you were actually looking forward to being asked the question? (Even if you were shy) What if you could ditch that old 'Elevator Pitch' and instead just be yourself? You can!
Here's how:
Instead of talking about your strengths and goals, tell people what problems you solve and who you solve them for. It never sounds like bragging and it's a fantastic way to show people where you can make a difference. Instead of talking about what you want, tell people what you can do for others and how it will benefit them. And let them know why that excites you.
Never Memorize an Elevator Pitch Again
When you figure out what problems you solve and how you can help others, you'll feel good about yourself. You will easily be able to show your unique value without having to memorize some 'salesy' elevator pitch. You will never have to 'sell yourself' (or your small business) again.
Here's Help
OK, maybe this all sounds good, but you're thinking, "I could use a little help with this. Don't just tell me what to do, show me how to do it."
Here's a free guide and workbook to show you how to ditch the elevator pitch and easily answer the question, "What do you do".
Here's to your success and making a difference for others.
