Do not Install Standard Voltage Optimisers inline with PV !
We seem to get this question all the time ! can i install a voltage optimiser in a house that has PV? the short answer is yes but in all likelihood not the way you think or carry it out!
A PV inverter cannot under G83 nor indeed G59 be supplied from a reduced grid voltage circuit for safety reasons. If your current Voltage Optimiser supplier says you can then please stop buying their products as you run the risk of a hefty fine and also having your customers feed in tariff suspended or indeed disconnected.
You have probably been told that their transformers are 2 way and as such they will buck and boost the voltage, this is actually correct for any standard auto-transformer but the inverter will not see what the grid voltage actually is and as such will continue to generate even at higher than regulatory limits. Added to this are the calls you will get going forward on undervoltage shut-downs through no intelligent control.
The only compliant products on the market which are additionally fully BS 7671 amendment 3 compliant are the new 'matt:e protect' and the 'matt:e PVM ' we cater for over-voltage threshold and additionally undervoltage threshold, if you want a compliant way of managing your PV as a standalone then the PV+ is the only one that does it. Don't use copycat PV++ units as they are dangerous and will cost you a fortune going forward as they have copied our firmware incorrectly.
Buy cheap buy twice is an all too familiar saying, but above all sell your customers the correct solution and not a cheap crapp:e matt:e copy, back UK manufacturers !!
