Do I really need to buy that?

I recently read an article that an average person buys 60% more items of clothing than what he or she needs. Post the lockdown, I strongly feel that’s not an exaggeration! With the scare that surfaces could carry the “virus”, I started becoming mindful if we really needed to buy something. Could we use something already at home or even fix it? Could we mix and match my daughter’s dresses for that “color combination” for her presentation?
On X-Mas, my daughter was craving for a Plastic Christmas Tree. I convinced her that we could make one together at home with all the stuff we have. I must say she enjoyed it so much more! She colored the dry twig, made Cut-out decorations with me and mimicked snow with cotton.
Hope you had a enjoyable X-Mas and wish you all a Happy New Year!

4 年What an innovative approach Pallavi. Very thoughtful and eco friendly I must say. Yes, DIY can actually engage us and help us explore our creativity with all unused stuff. So happy to see this

4 年I have a simple mantra for this habit. Everything needs to have a purpose and address. If something new is coming in, decide what needs to be done for the older. Example, new clothing, give away/ donate older. Atleast you support the society.
