Do I pay for incompetence?

I often ponder whether patients end up bearing the brunt of a doctor's incompetence. Why else would there be such drastic differences in the treatment protocols for two patients with similar symptoms, where the one subjected to the most investigations ends up paying the most?
Having been in healthcare management for a considerable time, I've observed varying approaches to similar medical issues among different doctors. While human anatomies are inherently dynamic and vary from person to person, such significant variations in medical approaches seem unwarranted. My fundamental conclusion is that patients are fortunate if their attending doctor is experienced, rational, and adheres to established standards and protocols for their medical condition.
I've been contemplating how we can standardize care, particularly in the emergency room (ER). This will avoid patients having to pay with their health or finances because the attending doctor is not confident or inexperienced. The only viable solution that comes to mind is the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). I envision a scenario where a patient's medical history becomes a mandatory and critical component, integrated seamlessly with their Electronic Medical Record (EMR). With comprehensive history, presenting conditions, vitals, and initial diagnostic reports from wearable devices, AI linked to the EMR should recommend a treatment protocol. This protocol should continuously adjust based on evolving results. It would also ensure timely consultation with a specialist, thereby avoiding delays in care.
As someone eagerly anticipating this transformation, I believe we must reduce the variability in our approach to each patient, ensure that only necessary diagnostics are performed to protect the patient's finances, and arrive at diagnoses in a scientific and timely manner.
?AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, and I eagerly await its adoption.
