Do I Have Permission to Review Your Resume?

Do I Have Permission to Review Your Resume?

Dear friends,

October is Resume Month, so this month I've been helping folks in our community make their resumes more powerful and effective - by taking the jargon out of them and putting YOUR human voice and Dragon-Slaying Stories? in!

Your resume matters, especially when you're job hunting.

A great resume gets you the interviews that help you get the job you deserve.

Over 2000 folks are participating in my Perfect Resume Challenge, getting suggestions for strengthening their resumes and making them POP!

It's tremendous to see your resumes becoming more compelling and better at telling your story.

Most of us learned to write our resumes the old, boring and ineffective way and it's high time we learned to write a resume that sings your song - to get you the job you deserve.

My Perfect Resume Challenge was free and a couple thousand of my followers participated, so I wasn’t able to give you any personal attention.

But that's changing now!

If you’d like to give me permission to review and critique your resume, you can do that here.

Even if you didn’t participate in the challenge, you can jump in now!

Have how my Resume Makeover works:

Resume Makeover Program

In my Resume Makeover Program, you'll follow my online course Write Your Perfect Resume, share advice and moral support with your fellow course members in our class discussion group and come to two LIVE Clinics with me, where I'll review, critique and wordsmith resumes in real time!

Not sure whether you could benefit from my Resume Makeover Program?

Here's a simple self-test:

  1. Does your resume make it crystal clear to the reader which job you want?
  2. Does it communicate why you are a great candidate for the jobs you want?
  3. Does it convey your communication skills (or is it full of talent-obscuring "filler" language like Proven track record of success, Motivated self-starter and Results-oriented professional)?
  4. Does your resume help you stand out in a crowded field?
  5. As you read your resume, does it make you feel great about yourself?
  6. Are your most important accomplishments coming through in your resume?
  7. Is your voice and personality in your resume, along with your experience?
  8. If you were a hiring manager reviewing your resume, would you say, "I need to meet this person!"?
  9. Does your resume explain every question a recruiter or hiring manager might ask about your background and experience?
  10. Most importantly, is your resume doing its job - getting interviews?

If your “self review” highlighted some opportunities for improvement in your resume, you can still take advantage of my Resume Makeover offer:

Resume Makeover

Here's to your AND your resume getting stronger all the time!

Yours,

Liz

This is such a fantastic initiative, Liz! A targeted, human-focused resume makes all the difference in today’s job market. We love seeing programs like this that empower job seekers. At The Swiss Quality Consulting (www.tsqc.ch), we also believe in the power of effective communication.
