Do I have to niche down if I want to pursue EB-2 NIW?

The nice thing about EB-2 NIW is that you have the freedom to either broadly or narrowly define your field.?

Only have experience in a certain sub-field like AI safety in healthcare? Focus on that niche only and talk about how you plan to contribute to that niche field in your proposed endeavor.

Have a wide range of experience e.g AI safety in healthcare but also experience in AI safety in retail? Talk more broadly about how you plan to contribute to the broader field (in this case AI safety).

As long as what you choose to focus on as part of your proposed endeavor relates to a field of national interest, it won’t matter too much whether you choose to present an argument that focuses just on contributing to a niche within that field versus contributing to the field as a whole.

That being said, there are some niches like healthcare that might give you an additional advantage but don’t pursue something that does not really interest you simply because you get what’s really just a minor advantage.
