Do the GAPS in your life always seem bigger than your GAINS?

Do the GAPS in your life always seem bigger than your GAINS?

It's human nature to fixate on the?GAPS?in your life - the goals not yet reached, the habits not fully formed.

But this is tunnel vision. It can be detrimental to our overall well-being and performance.

I recently experienced a?GAP?day.

Despite years of coaching and personal growth, I found myself under-slept, stressed from travel, and spiralling into negative self-talk.

Sound familiar?

When this happens to me, I look to a powerful tool that has helped me get out of my funk.?

It's the art of reframing our perspective to focus on?GAINS.

Here's how you can implement this strategy:

1. Daily GAINS Journal:

Set aside 5 minutes each evening to write down 3 GAINS from your day.? These can be personal, professional, or health-related wins, no matter how small.

Example:?

??"Chose a nutritious lunch despite a stressful meeting"?

??"Completed a challenging workout"?

??"Had a meaningful conversation with my partner."

2. Weekly GAINS Review:

Every Sunday, review your 21 GAINS from the week. Reflect on patterns and areas of consistent progress.

3. GAPS to GAINS Reframing:

When you notice negative self-talk about a GAP, pause and ask: "What GAIN can I find in this situation?"

Example:

If you missed a workout, perhaps you gained extra sleep or quality time with family.

4. Visualization Exercise:

Spend two minutes each morning visualizing your desired GAINS for the day. This primes your brain to notice and create positive outcomes.

5. Share Your GAINS:

Find someone who you can share you gains with weekly.? It can be a partner, a friend or a coach.

Share your top 3 GAINS from the week.

This reinforces positive momentum and helps recalibrate your focus.

Remember, for every negative event or thought,?we need at least three positive ones. This helps us maintain emotional equilibrium.?

By consistently practicing this GAINS focus you're:?

? Offsetting negativity

??Rewiring your brain for optimism and resilience

This isn't about ignoring areas for improvement.? It's about building a foundation of positivity that fuels sustainable growth and peak performance.

Your challenge this week:?

Implement the Daily GAINS Journal.?

By next week, you'll have 21 concrete reasons to feel proud and motivated.

Let's transform those GAPS into opportunities for GAINS.
