A recent #sustainability report from Deloitte surveyed more than 2000 senior executives from around the world. Here are the top 10 findings I took from their analysis. (The last three are a little depressing).
- #climate ranks #2 in importance for business leaders, after economic pressures.
- Most business leaders (61%) said climate change will have a high impact on their organization’s strategy and operations over the next three years.
- 62% say they are concerned about climate change all or most of the time.
- 78% are optimistic that the world will take sufficient steps to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
- 64% of companies feel #climateaction pressure from employee activism
- Almost 2 / 3 (65%) say that regulation is a key factor in their climate action
- 4 in 5 say they were personally impacted by climate change in the last year.
- Only 1 in 3, (33%) are tying seniors leaders’ compensation to environmental sustainability performance
- Only 1 in 5, (19%) have significantly increased their sustainability investments over the past year.
- Just over 2 in 5 (44%) are requiring suppliers to meet sustainability criteria.
I will do another post with my reactions to these findings later. Follow me if you want to read that. More importantly though - what do you think?
Enhancing customer experience, employee engagement and environmental sustainability for progressive thinking companies.
1 年I think this speaks to the imbalance between the inevitable short termism that measures economic "success" versus the unavoidable truth that those at the helm recognise but do not yet know how to address. Engaging society to react in ways that support governments and companies to make the hard decisions (that they recognise they need to make but are afraid to do so due to potential repercussions) is crucial. I contend that climate change is a change management problem more than anything at this point in time.

1 年Unfortunately for anything to change I think it needs to rank #1 otherwise they will continue to use economic pressure and the expense associated with change as an excuse not to. I would be interested in seeing if the report broke it down to sectors, as 2 in 5 requiring suppliers to meet sustainability is extremely subjective based on industry.
