Do chromatography vials septa contain PFAS?
Zhejiang Aijiren Technology, Inc.
Leading manufacturer of Laboratory Consumables including Vials, Caps, Septa, Inserts, Tubes, Filters R&D production
PFAS is a series of non-natural, artificially synthesized organic compounds that contain at least one perfluorinated methyl (CF3-) or methylene (-CF2-) carbon atom (without any H/Cl/Br/I attached to the carbon atom). Currently, there are more than 1,460 types of PFAS.
PFAS can make products resistant to oil, water, stains and mud, chemicals and heat, and reduce surface friction. They are widely used in food packaging materials, stain and water repellent, fabrics and carpets, leather and clothing, non-stick cookware (Teflon), polishes, waxes, paints, cleaning products and fire-retardant foams.
Because PFAS is biopersistent, bioaccumulative, and biotoxic, it will have long-term impacts on environmental organisms and human health. The US EPA and the EU ECHA have issued relevant decrees to ban the use of PFAS.
Aijiren uses the latest technology to produce chromatography sample vial PTFE/silicone septa, GC septa, which are completely free of PFAS. Aijiren's Cap and septa have passed SGS EU standards and US EPA standards certification.
