Do business coaches need a qualification?

Before hiring a business coach, read this article first, because the answer to today's question is, “Do business coaches need a certification?”

And the simple answer is no, they do not.

There are no formal qualifications required to be a #businesscoach and the same actually applies to #lifecoaches as well.

Now these days, more and more people are getting a qualification and there are definitely good coaching qualifications out there. ?

When you are looking to hire a business coach, you might want to ask your potential coach, “What qualifications do you have?”

"Are you certified as a business coach, or even as a life coach?" and see what they come back with, Now to be fair, not all coaches, need to have qualifications in coaching. Because they may have qualifications in other fields.

For example, someone that you might be speaking to, might have a qualification in business management, or in marketing or even HR, and then they've moved their business over into the coaching space.

That means that they are still a highly qualified person.

The question you need to ask yourself is, “How can they help my business?”

Is the qualification that they have going to be relevant to growing your business?

Let me explain.

A person who, for example, has a qualification in HR, they're going to be brilliant with any staffing issues that you may have. If you have someone who has a qualification in marketing, they're going to be really good at helping you market your business.

My answer to you is, it doesn't matter so much about the qualification as the experience and the knowledge that this person brings.

The last thing that you really want is someone who has zero experience.

Even if they have a qualification as a coach, how long have they been in business? Do you really want to be working with someone who's fresh and who's brand new? Have they got those qualifications that are going to be able to get you those results?

Let's face it, there is also a little thing called life experience.

Someone who has moved into the coaching field might have a fabulous experience running their own businesses, or even somebody else's businesses, and so they will have a vast store of knowledge that they can use to help you with your business.

While a coaching qualification is not mandatory, there are lots of questions that you can ask your potential coach to ascertain how valuable they can be for your business.
