Did you see the recent Michael Jordan Documentary, Last Dance?
We all know that Michael Jordan is arguably, the greatest basketball player of all time.
He was also a bully who wanted to control everything and failed to utilise the skills of his other teammates.
The documentary showed footage from the 1989-90 season, where his team lost for the second year in a row to the reigning champions, the Detroit Pistons.?
The Pistons exploited Jordan’s weak leadership and lack of trust in his own team.
The next season, Jordan’s team, The Chicago Bulls swept the Detroit Pistons 4-0.
The Bulls went on to become one of the greatest sports franchises in history.
How did they achieve this with a bully as the leader?
Head Coach Phil Jackson explained to Jordan that if he wanted to win, he would need to trust and empower his teammates.
Michael Jordan already had the skills and mindset to be great at his game but he needed to adapt his way of thinking to get the best out of his team and lead them to greatness.
