Do away with that excuse!

Do away with that excuse!

Working out what to post on LinkedIn or any other Social Media Platform can be a stressful task.

Posting regular quality content to the platform provides benefits in terms of exposure and authority building on LinkedIn but, when you’re dealing with the hundreds of other tasks that a typical day demands, coming up with fresh ideas can be a real drain on your time and energy levels.

So with that in mind, this post will, at the very least, give you a TON of inspiration for ideas – meaning you’ll never struggle for content again.

These suggestions and ideas are really suitable for ANY [social media platform], business – whatever your “vertical”.

Just dip in, tailor to suit your own situation and GET WRITING. As with anything, practice makes perfect so don’t worry if you’re finding it tough to start with – trust me it wil get easier!

Personally (sic. Melanie) I’ve found it useful to have a content planner in place – a calendar either hosted online, on your computer or stuck to the wall if you’re truly old school – whatever works for you. The main thing is to have some sort of visual plan in front of you which you can then also refer to at a later stage. I’ve broken the ideas down into categories as it’s important to keep a good mix of types of posts on Linkedin – different people respond to different types of posts – video, pictures, text only, longer form documents – they all have their place. And keeping that mix ensures the greatest level of reach and traction from your posts.

BUT FIRST – A FEW DO’S

Post regularly – Consistency is key on LinkedIn – 3 times a week should really be a comfortable minimum

Always reply to comments – the more comments, the more engagement, the more reach

Be yourself – Everyone else is already taken – don’t be afraid to use your own voice and bring a bit of personality to the table

Build your audience – the more relevant connections you have, the more relevant people will see your posts

Get involved with your connections – the algorithm rewards those who are active – if you’re liking/ commenting on their posts, they’ll be more likely to do the same

Generate conversation – posts that divide or drive opinion perform well on LinkedIn – bear that in mind – are you making it easy for your followers to comment?

Use subtitles on video posts – many people view LinkedIn at work and can’t have the volume on – subtitles boost the views and engagement

Use eye-catching headlines in your posts – You won’t believe how well they work!

AND ALSO – A FEW DONT’S

Treat LinkedIn like free advertising – it’s not – the true benefits come from being SOCIAL, not spamming people

Share posts – Shared posts get barely any reach compared to original content – you’re better to link to the original post in your comments

Post anything offensive – after all LinkedIn is a business network – keep things within the realms of good taste and politeness

Post LONG videos – again, people are at work, they haven’t got time to watch them – short and sweet wins!

To add to the Do's, always add a call to action. I want to assume there is an objective behind every post you put out there.
