DMC Mining Services Embraces Digitalization and Automation

Digital Transformation “the new world” focuses on future, which is organized, efficient and successful.

“Transform or Perish” – we hear this phrase constantly, and we have come across many cases where it was proven right. Many industries are undergoing digital transformation and moving forward with the changing technology. Mining industry is not far behind - it has welcomed the need for digital transformation and has adopted the “new normal” and improved its processes to ensure long-term success.

Being part of the core team driving automation, digital transformation and change management, we have the opportunity to work with some of the smartest brains in the industry.

The goal is to build processes, culture, an appetite for change and high-performing teams that are ready to take the leap and adapt to change.

Our journey has had bumps like any other journey, but the determination and sponsorship from the top leaders helped us achieve and deliver some high-end, complicated projects like ERP, Time & Attendance.

What have we learned so far?

  • Where digital transformation is important, culture transformation is crucial – one cannot take place without the other.
  • It is important to understand and establish the need for change with all the stakeholders and challenge them to get more clarity.
  • At inception, the benefits of the change may not be clear in certain parts of the organization and may cause resistance. If it is an enterprise change, it is important to clearly communicate the need, benefits and provide support at all stages to increase adoption. The sponsor needs to play an important role in engaging the team.
  • Ensure the sponsor is visible, gets the buy-in from other business leaders, supports and promotes the change.
  • Identify your change champions, provide support and resources to them so they can lead the change with you.
  • Ensure the stakeholders and end-users are aware of the upcoming change and the need for it.
  • Create forums for end-users to voice their opinion (VOC) and ensure any concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Set realistic deadlines that work for all teams involved.

There is much more to accomplish, and we believe in taking one step at a time.

2023 will bring more projects, efficient processes, and will require everyone to work in partnership, build strong alliances and march forward.
