Nigeria's 'Cashless Policy' boosting digital payments

Amid the tightest presidential vote in Nigeria’s history, the country is experiencing cash scarcity due to the latest redesign of the Naira.

CBN’s ‘Cashless’ policy project, has been given a boost? after 5 years among others to encourage electronic transactions.

To enhance financial inclusion, the CBN has also launched a national domestic card scheme called AfriGo seeking to break up the card triopoly (Mastercard, Visa and Verve by Interswitch).

New APMs on the horizon

DuitNow Online Banking/Wallets will be replacing Malaysia’s FPX payment method by the end of 2023. DuitNowOBW is a faster and more seamless checkout for individual customers on eCommerce and mCommerce platforms with simple redirection to their online banking or eWallet application. This service enables businesses to receive payments 24/7, at an instance, with over 40 participating banks and eWallets.

In the last 3 years, the eWallet transaction value grew 334%, reaching US$28 B.?

It is forecasted that Indonesia’s total eCommerce transactions will reach US$137.5 billion by 2025—the highest in the Asia Pacific region—representing 59% of the region’s accumulated transaction value.
