Will DLL run on Unix

After a longtime, I am into this cross-platform support.

Long back I was to objectify the legacy code for a product running on the Unix platform.

So, my proposal was we can use the CORBA (Early CORBA days), and objectify the product.

So, my client's team wanted us to use COM/DCOM! I was in trouble.

At length, I had to explain why COM/DCOM will not be the right choice. I also discussed about an attempt by one Swiss Company (Do not want to name them here) to develop COM/DCOM on Linux.

After hours of long discussions, finally my client gave me the go ahead to use CORBA. They are one of the world leaders in their space.

This happened some years back.

I am writing this because recently in one of my client engagement, my client claims that he will develop DLLs and run them on Unix!

What, Oh No. I do not want to be in such challenging situations again.
