Dj Khalid's Email List Indoctrination Hack

Dj Khalid's Email List Indoctrination Hack

One month ago I went to spend some time with my big brother.

We had a huge ass barbeque with pieces of meat the size of a man's arm, all marinated and cooked for hours on end to make sure they were tender... juicy.. and bursting with flavour with each bite. Now, the reason I'm writing this is not to make you feel hungry, in case you were wondering. You see...

While waiting for the meat to cook, we listened to a “Top Ten Hits by DJ Khaled” marathon on MTV... which surprisingly was showing music for once, and not pregnant teenagers.

And one thing which struck me was how...

DJ Khaled started each song by shouting a bunch of his catchphrases into the camera as if his life depended on it

Seriously... that dude sure loves yelling:

“Anotha one!”, and “DJ Khaled!”, and “Don't play yourself” whenever he gets the chance.

At this point I'm firmly convinced his catchphrases might be the only words he can speak..

Even when there was a skit, or short acted segment before the actual song started Khaled appeared just repeating his catchphrases non stop like a broken record... and twenty minutes into the marathon even I was repeating after him.

I found myself repeating Khaled's catchphrases whenever I could during the coversation with my brothers, even though technically I don't even like the dude's music. And then, it finally hit me.

The reason why Khaled kept shouting his catchphrases in each song.

You see... the music industry is becoming saturated with loads of subpar artists who couldn't sing a proper lyric if it was swung in front of their faces on a string. At this point in time, if you don't have anything to set you apart then you're doomed to just blend into the crowd and disapear. So...

What Dj Khaled does, is to keep shouting his phrases and mottos at his fans, beating his personality and his brand into their heads until...

He practically becomes a part of his fan's identity.

I've seen countless teenagers who use Khaled's catchphrases and mottos in their social media statuses, showing just how deep the effect of this “Khaled-indoctrincation scheme” is.

And here's the best part:

This kind of “subtle indoctrination” is even more powerful in email.... plus, it's not just limited to catchphrases either.

You'd be surprised just how much of “seeps out” of your emails and becomes part of your subscribers, and their general identities.

Stuff such as your world views... work ethic... opinions, and yes... in case you were wondering, even your catchphrases.

My own personality has been molded by a handful of personalities whose emails I've been reading for well over five years.

These are men's dating coaches who instilled the virtues of manhood, respect for women and a firm need to believe that I can make it if I work for it.

These are entrepreneurs who showed me that success is possible... and anyone who can put in the work, provided the proper implementation and application can pull it off.

These are self help coaches who kept me in line in an increasingly shitty economy, where hope was virtually non existent and I would wake up each morning wondering just what the hell I was doing with my life... and with just their emails... they kept me in line with my goals.

Just one email a day was enough for me to aspire to be as close to my “email role models” as possible.

I never bought anything from them.

I just let their personalities... stories and parables show me a better way of living, in an increasingly chaotic world.

And this is the exact same effect you can have on YOUR subscribers in your emails if you do it right.

The deeper your personality sinks into your subscribers... the more powerful your brand, and the more likely they're going to buy from you, and only you.

So that being said, any experiences you had where you can admit someone's email newsletter changed who you are as a person... or helped you grow?

Share your views in the comments below and let's see.

… Till the next wave of madness... Vae Victis...
