DIY Non Invasive Ventilator

According to a Pulmonologist in New York: "CPAP is similar to PEEP and, from early reports, may help improve oxygenation (even without supplemental O2) in patients with ARDS. It is possible it will obviate need for assisted ventilation" However, standard CPAP machines blow exhaled air into the environment, so the CDC recommends against using them. We have developed a CPAP design that is made from common parts that can provide 10 cm H2O pressure in the patient's lungs and capture the exhaled breath so that the hazard is less. With the addition of a repurposed oxy-acetylene welding torch, it can provide 40% oxygen as well. We are asking people to make this device and tell us how it works and whether the parts are available in their area. Check out the video and a document with details.

4 年Thank you for the advisory committee aspect of your plan. I am sure that there are many of us that are looking for a way to separate the well designed and tested projects , that will be broadly accepted as truly useful, from the "garage full of hope" projects that may be there own source of harm.

4 年Reference to a funding channel would be very helpful for those that want to contribution to solutions but don't have the know how to accomplish what you and your team are able to. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

4 年Awesome Steve and crew. Will look for the funding conduit to assist. I have high school student technicians (robotics builders) that might be good sources of semi skilled labor for testing instructions. Also, various levels of skill can be identified. Please pm for coordination.
