Diwali From A Project Management Perspective

Diwali From A Project Management Perspective

This Diwali, I could not help but notice how each phase of the project management lifecycle seamlessly fit into our festivities. The whole thing was a full-fledged project, involving every essential element right from planning to execution:

  1. Inception & Planning: From decorations, crackers, and sweets to pooja essentials—the list was endless. Each one of these needed to be planned, prioritized, and of course, budgeted! Every minute detail was thoughtfully done to have an artistic and religiously applicable setup.
  2. Site Evaluation: Similar to any construction site, our space was evaluated for the best use: which places to have pooja, safety zones for fireworks, and where to light candles or lamps. This setup was planned not only for aesthetic views but also with safety and feasibility in mind.
  3. Stakeholder Management: This step reminded me how important it is to consider all those involved. Our "stakeholders" included family, neighbors, and even the landlord! We made sure our festivities wouldn’t disturb anyone or extend into the early morning hours.
  4. Logistics and Strategy: Distributing sweets among friends and family? That itself was a logistics exercise! Spending a little time strategizing delivery routes saved a lot of time and ensured we connected with everyone without back-and-forth trips.
  5. Implementation & Outcomes: Finally, it was great to see everything fall into place. Our careful planning and management meant the joy of celebration was complete and smooth, reinforcing that good project management isn’t just for work; it can enrich our personal lives too.

Wishing everyone success in all their projects, big or small, personal or professional!
