The Journey from Human Being towards Being Human
In today’s edition of our newsletter, let’s take a lighthearted journey into the world of sweets and savories on the eve of Diwali. Imagine them gathered, each unique in its own way, each representing a flavor, a feeling, a region, and a story. Through their playful banter, we find reflections of our own lives, our own friendships, and perhaps, our own journeys towards being more human.
On the eve of Diwali, as homes filled with the fragrance of fresh flowers, lights glowed, and hearts prepared for the festival, a rather unusual meeting was taking place. At the center of a grand platter, sweets and savories were gathered, waiting to be enjoyed. Each one, wrapped in its own pride and tradition, began to chatter away.
Motichoor Laddoo sat at the head of the table, its golden rounds reflecting the light with pride. “I am tradition itself!” it declared with a charming smile. “From temple prasad to family gatherings, I’ve been there spreading sweetness for generations. Nearby, Kaju Katli gave a sleek grin and said, “And I’m the modern icon! Smooth, refined, and perfect for everyone’s palate—no festival is complete without me.”
Sonpapdi rolled its eyes, muttering, “But why do humans always find me so confusing? It’s like they can’t decide if they like me or not. Being human must be as puzzling as my texture!”
Just then, Gulab Jamun spoke up with a touch of warmth, “Ah, but the warmth I bring is irreplaceable. I don’t just melt in your mouth; I melt hearts.” Badusha laughed, its layers shimmering in the soft glow, saying, “My friend, I’m resilience personified—a tough crust with a soft core. It’s not just about being sweet; it’s about strength wrapped in sweetness.” Mysore Pak joined in, its rich, crumbly texture exuding warmth, “Unity is key. I’m soft yet bold. Each one of us has a unique role, but together, we make Diwali magical.”
As the sweets laughed, the Savories jumped into the fray, adding a crunchy twist. Murukku and Mathri teased, “Hold on, Diwali is about balance! Without us, it’d be all sugar and no spice. We’re the reminder that life needs variety—a bit of crunch with sweetness.”
The playful banter turned into hearty laughter as both sweets and savories realized that Diwali wouldn’t feel complete without each one of them bringing their unique charm to the table.
In this simple gathering, there’s a reflection of our own lives. Each sweet and savory has its own personality, just like each of us. Our journey from Human Being to Being Human isn’t about fitting into one mold. Life, much like Diwali, is about celebrating each individual’s strengths and recognizing that everyone contributes to the community and family in their own unique ways.
So, as we enjoy our festive treats this Diwali, let’s also cherish the differences that each one of us brings to the world. Because just like these sweets and savories, we all add our own flavor, and together, we make life more joyful and meaningful.
Happy Diwali! May this festival remind us to embrace our unique flavors on this journey of being human.
