The celebration in 2017 was sober, and minus the sho-sha one sees in general. I'm so glad to see this change in a country, which has always been pompous during celebrating Diwali!
While the Supreme Court ban on crackers, didn't end up as a blanket ban, rest assured my friends and relatives in New Delhi were quite happy to see a forcefully subdued celebration, where the diyas shone the brightest. Fist-bump to the Government, for the verdict, though I so wished it was implemented nation wide. #GoodStart
Prayers, Maha Aarti of Goddess Laxmi, Lord Kuber, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati and special sweet and savory offerings later, it's time to light diyas across the house, and brighten the lives of family, friends and the neighborhood.
While people burn their hard earned money, on noise deafening crackers, I meet my relatives and munch on the sweets, specially prepared for the festival.
It's always a good time to meet near and dear during Diwali. Never a dull moment, with so much happening around! Guests keep trickling in and the jolliness keep multiplying, to factors unknown.
