?? Divvy continues with dizzying success

Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Divvy announce the expansion of their popular bikeshare system?which has been running since 2013. The plan is to deploy an additional 250 stations and 3,000 bikes over the next two years, meaning that Chicago will soon boast the most coverage of any city in North America.

?

Despite some doubts from locals on the expansion, the stats show positive feedback from the city residents. "Divvy ridership is 60% higher than it was in 2019. And, this time, this year, we are already 40% higher than we were last year in terms of ridership," says Caroline Samponaro, Vice President of Bike and Scooter Policy at Lyft Transit.

To start, Bird is enhancing its?Visual Parking System, which allows riders to use augmented reality to figure out a place nearby to park their scooter. But far from being technology of the future, this high-tech solution to clearing sidewalks is already live in California and a few cities in Europe. Age verification, double-riding and curb-riding prevention are also tackled in the?suite of upgrades.
